Ten Great Ways to Get Auto Insurance Quote

December 21st, 2009

Auto Insurance has become a part and parcel of a vehicle purchase. It is now a mandate to have an insurance policy to take your car out publicly. There is an abundant increase in the number of companies offering their rates. It is becoming increasingly difficult to choose the best among the whole lot. There are a few ways mentioned below to understand the right auto insurance quote for your vehicle.

It is important to go in for a cheap indemnity quotation, which is affordable and, which also suits your needs. People however overlook the cover that the policy holds. You tend to experience the limitations of the policy only at the time of claims. It is thus not important to just go in for the lowest quote, but also to understand the extent of cover that the policy holds

By increasing your deductible or your excess payment, you are likely to get a good quote, as the quote is related directly to the deductible

Insurance rates vary based on the model and the make of your car. If you own a posh sports car, you cannot expect a low quote for your vehicle. It will definitely attract higher rates

It is always important to drive carefully and avoid accidents and speeding, more so when you need to get a quote from your company. The companies give a quote only after understanding the history of your vehicle

Anti theft and safety devices can attract low rates, as your car is at a lower risk

If you have an old policy running, try and close it before opting for a new cover

You also need to renew your policy only at fixed times. The companies can help you with this information.

If you have some other policy, like home policy already running with the company and would like to add your auto insurance with them, it can attract multi policy discounts. You are at an advantage to ask for better benefits being an existing customer.

You have great rates published on the internet. It is the best place to surf and get the lowest rates possible

It is always important to understand the terms and conditions before signing any document. The fine print on the document should not later pay heavily on your money outflow

Getting an auto insurance quote is not a difficult task, considering the competition thrown in the market. However, it is important to go in for the one best suited and well within your budget.

Secrets Your Auto Insurance Company Doesn’t Want You to Know

December 21st, 2009

Many drivers rely on good faith and may not expect to be forced to sue their auto insurance company in order to receive payment for expenses resulting from a car accident.  Typically, most just want to have their car repaired and their medical bills paid.

Unfortunately, the auto insurance attorneys of Michigan Auto Law deal with many car insurance companies on a daily basis that take advantage of their customers by cutting off their benefits without reason or notice. Some insurance companies also put people “under investigation”— the excuse for stopping payment of all medical bills and wage loss. People are being ignored, threatened, intimidated and even lied to by their insurance claims adjusters.

The following are common tactics used by many auto insurance companies to either avoid or minimize their payouts to customers. Suggestions are included on how you can protect yourself to avoid or minimize problems with your automobile insurer.

Many restrictions and limitations are buried in your policy’s fine print:

Knowing how to read and understand the fine print of auto insurance policies is not an easy task. Auto accident lawyers have seen far too many people lose out on important benefits because they were unaware of important filing requirements buried in their policies.  For example, many auto insurance policies pose strict notification requirements, such as 30 days notice for hit-and-run accidents.  Many contracts have separate conditions for uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage requiring very prompt notice, and insurance carriers can change their policy filing requirements at any time.  When car accident victims do not respond to notification requirements on time, they can lose their coverage.

How to protect yourself:  Notify your insurance company immediately after any type of accident. Be sure you have your complete auto insurance policy, including any notification of coverage changes from year to year. This can also include pamphlets or notes that are mailed with renewal statements, reflecting any policy terms and changes.  Most policies include declarations, conditions, insuring agreements and exclusions with conditions.

It’s also important to check insurance policies for any benefits that overlap with your own health and disability insurance; and to review any additional coverage (such as uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage). When receiving ongoing medical care for car accident injuries, having a solid understanding of insurance policies can help ensure that health care providers bill appropriately.

If you are confused with your auto insurance policy and have questions, don’t hesitate to contact a lawyer who specializes in auto accidents – most are happy to offer advice and guidance for your protection.

Insurance agents don’t always recommend the best coverage

Following a car accident, there can be numerous issues and challenges navigating through your car insurance coverage including health insurance plans, managed care plans, retirement plans such as ERISA, and coordinated/uncoordinated policies.  In addition, insurance agents may avoid mentioning important coverage options and applicable discounts due to payout losses or lower premiums that reduce their commissions.

How to protect yourself:  If you are injured in an auto accident, contact an experienced auto accident lawyer who is best qualified to provide guidance on issues of which insurance is primary, and who will pay medical expenses that are incurred after a crash.

An insured person with both ERISA and coordinated insurance may end up recovering nothing for their pain and suffering in the event of an auto accident.

Check your insurance policy for uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage of at least $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident. If this type of coverage is missing, contact your insurance carrier to add it – the cost is minimal and highly recommended to protect you and your family.

Accident Settlement Offers Are Always Too Low:

Imagine you just suffered devastating injuries from a car accident and are now recuperating at home, in pain, and worrying about how you are going to pay your bills. An insurance agent knocks on your door with a check for $100,000 for your accident. With the emotional and physical trauma following a car or truck crash, a large amount of money sounds great, and some victims rush into accepting the first settlement offer. Yet determining the value of an auto accident case goes far beyond a simple calculation of injury type, future expenses not covered by no-fault insurance and the wrongdoer’s policy limit.  Offering to settle is essentially a backdoor approach by insurance companies to saving litigation costs at the expense of an accident victim’s right to a full recovery.

How to protect yourself:  It never hurts to call an auto accident lawyer and ask for advice.  Many lawyers can explain accident law, what you are entitled to and make sure your own insurance company is paying everything they are supposed to – with no fee or obligation.

Releases and Recorded Statements Are Pushed Early On to Overwhelm Accident Victims:

Many victims rush into signing adjusters’ documents without having the language reviewed by an auto accident lawyer, believing these are just basic verifications of the accident. Therefore, they may lose their right to sue a negligent driver for accident-related injuries. Claims adjusters often try to get recorded statements early, aiming to minimize the victim’s pain and injuries for later use in court. Even vehicle damage releases can contain unrelated language that can jeopardize your other claims.

How to protect yourself:  Never give statements to an accident claims adjuster and never sign a release or allow the adjuster to look at the auto damage.  Simply tell the adjuster that you need to review the paperwork with your attorney and will get back to them with your response.

No matter how desperate you may feel after suffering the financial burden of medical bills, lost wages and disabling pain, involving an auto accident attorney will ensure your rights are protected.  Keep in mind that the claims adjuster works for the insurance company, and has its best interest in mind – not the injured victim.

Standard practice is to deny or delay claim payouts:

Most people suffering injuries from a car accident call their auto insurance company to find out what to do next.  They assume that when they follow the process, they will receive fair, timely compensation for injuries resulting from the auto accident.  After all, they paid for the auto insurance for that reason – to be covered in the event of a car accident.

Yet many insurance companies engage in common auto claims adjuster tactics including denying claims, not returning calls, placing people on hold for extensive periods, requiring a victim to repeatedly gather records, and passing you from one adjuster to the next.   Soon the financial burden of time off work and mounting medical bills drives innocent car accident victims to contact an attorney. Or worse, it makes them desperate enough to accept an extremely low settlement offer, limiting any future recovery of damages.

How to protect yourself: If you are experiencing these typical delay tactics, contact an auto accident attorney who can assist you with getting your claim processed and the benefits you are entitled to under your state’s law.

Bottom Line:  If your auto accident involves injuries to you and/or your family (even seemingly minor injuries), consult an auto accident attorney as soon as possible.  Not only will you better understand what benefits you are entitled to, but you will have the peace of mind knowing that you received the full value of benefits and compensation available to injured drivers.

The Inside Scoop on Ultra Cheap Auto Insurance

December 20th, 2009

You love to save money, right? Everybody does. Even when we’re NOT in the middle of a recession there’s something extremely satisfying about hanging on to your paycheck and watching your savings account grow…and grow…and grow. But if you’re going to pad your savings account the way you’d like to you need to take advantage of every opportunity you can find to cut corners-and that includes finding ways to save big on your auto insurance.

The path to cheap auto insurance isn’t as obscure and fraught with peril as many people think. As a matter of fact, finding cheap auto insurance is actually pretty easy. The first step is to cut your mileage. The more time you spend on the road, the more you’re going to pay for the privilege. If you can hop a commuter bus to work, carpool or telecommute rather than hitting the highways every morning you’re going to watch your auto insurance rates go plummeting.

The next step is to take a look at your car. Your insurance company is going to offer you all kinds of discounts, so anything you can do to pump up the safety and security of your car is going to be a short term investment for a long term gain. Simple things like seat belts and anti-lock brakes can shave up to 10% (or more) off your insurance premiums. And if you were to, say, take it to the next level and install a fuel switch or an electronic GPS tracking system that made it impossible for your car to get up to any weekend hijinks you could watch that number climb even higher.

It’s like this. Auto insurance companies hate paying out claims. Oh, they’ll do it. After all, that’s what you pay them for! But they don’t have to like it, and the hit to their profit and loss statement could have them taking a good, hard look at whether or not they want to continue to insure you at all. On the flip side, anything you can do to minimize the chances that you’re going to need to file a claim in the near future can only be good news for your insurance premiums.

Once you’ve maximized your discount potential it’s time to start shopping around. Even if you’ve already got a decent insurance company that you really like working with its going to pay to scope out some new auto insurance quotes. Why? Because while many companies have been raising their renewal rates for their current customers they’re giving their new ones the best deal possible on their insurance coverage.

Most people are creatures of habit, and insurance companies know it. They know that you’re usually not going to take the time to hunt around for a better quote on your auto insurance when you’ve got a good deal going where you’re at, so they have the freedom to raise your rates with impunity. As long as it’s nothing too drastic, how are you ever going to know?

Stop the cycle and help yourself to some ultra cheap auto insurance by maxing out your discounts, shopping around and then kicking back with the low priced insurance coverage you deserve!

Benefits of Combining Home and Auto Insurance

December 18th, 2009

Home insurance and auto insurance are two types of insurance that nearly all people will need at some point in their lives. When you have a number of different insurance policies, the cost of premiums can quickly become a financial hardship. When it comes to insurance, we all want to get the best deal and the best coverage. One of the best ways to save money on your insurance costs is to combine your home and auto insurance with one insurance provider.

Combining your home and auto insurance policies with a single insurer can greatly reduce your premium. According to the Insurance Information Institute, “combining your home and auto insurance policies could save you up to 15 percent on both premiums.” To compete for your business, many insurance providers provide discounts to customers who buy both home and auto insurance with them.

Combining both home and auto insurance can drastically reduce your premium coverage payments to insure the contents of our homes from fire, theft…etc, the structure of your home in the event of fire, wind, and other types of damage covered under the terms of the policy. As well, you will have insurance for your vehicle in the event of an accident, especially liability, collision, theft, and vandalism. The majority of insurance companies that offer combined home and auto insurance coverage will bill you for both policies at once. This means you will make one payment each month.

The best way to find a cheap home and auto insurance rate is to search online. The fastest and simplest way to locate a combined cheap home and auto insurance policy is to compare home and auto insurance quotes using an online insurance comparison tool. There are many insurance sites that offer this comparison tool for free with no obligations to purchase. All that you have to do is fill out a quick quote form and then you receive several insurance quotes. You can then pick the best insurance policy that meets your needs.

When you combine your home and auto insurance, you will not only save money, but you will have the added convenience of one insurance package, one payment to make each month, one renewal date, and one single deductible that will apply in the event of a claim is made.

As with any type of insurance, it is important to do your research. You should find out how a company ranks in terms of how well they pay their claims and how strong they are financially. You should also read the insurance policy carefully so that you know exactly what you are covered for and how much the provider will pay for a claim. It is important to remember that having the right amount of coverage outweighs the cost of inadequate coverage.

Anyone with a home and vehicle needs to be protected by having insurance. With the current unstable economic market, it just makes sense to save money by combining both your home and auto insurance policy.

Finding Cheap Auto Insurance In California

December 15th, 2009

The state of California is known for its high prices. The cost of living in general is much higher than the cost of living in many other locations. California also requires relatively high levels of auto insurance coverage to be carried, resulting in extremely high insurance premiums. While car insurance rates will always be higher in California than in many other areas, a bit of persistence can result in a significant savings.

If you are looking for car insurance in California, be sure to look for and follow general money-saving suggestions on the internet and in consumer magazines. Be sure to shop around carefully as well, as insurance rates may vary immensely from one provider to the next. California insurance companies are permitted to charge based on how much they have paid out in general. Therefore, you may find yourself penalized for someone else’s accidents.

Make sure that you are aware of the current California state minimum requirements for insurance coverage levels. Many companies have their own in-house minimums which may be much higher. If you are insuring an old low-value car, you may not need insurance beyond the state requirements, so insist that the company give you this quote. Additional coverage may be necessary depending on your financial resources and whether your car is financed.

Discounts are available for groups ranging from retirees to full time students. The best bonuses go to Safe Drivers. Maintaining a clean driving record is the number one thing that you can do to keep your rates as low as possible. Ask your insurance agent whether you qualify for any additional bonuses.

Buy your insurance online. Companies such as esurance.com offer comparison shopping between many different policies. Their rates are often lower because there is no middleman insurance agent drawing a commission. Be sure that you are comparing identical plans in terms of deductible, coverage and added insurance products.

If you have the financial resources, consider raising your deductible. Good drivers who are unlikely to have an accident can save significantly on their monthly payments simply by raising their deductibles. Just keep in mind that you will need to be able to afford the deductible if something does happen.

Remember that cars are classified into groups, and certain groups are more expensive to insure. Your driving record will also play a part. Young drivers will pay more to insure sports cars than other types of cars and more to insure sports cars than will older drivers with good records. Check into insurance rates for a car you are considering.

While car insurance rates remain high in California and truly cheap car insurance may not exist, it is possible to find insurance that is not outlandishly expensive. Shop around, look for discounts, raise your deductible and drop unneeded coverages. In this way you can find insurance that will cover your needs without breaking your monthly budget.

How to Prove to the DMV You’re Not Lying Through Your Teeth About Your Auto Insurance

December 15th, 2009

Do you ever get the feeling you should be able to apply for a government security clearance by the time you’re done clearing the details of your life (and your car) with the DMV? You have to have more paperwork to get a registration and title from the DMV than you do to register your kids in school these days! And one of those pieces of paper (unfortunately) is positive proof that you’re in possession of a current auto insurance policy.

Makes sense, right? After all, they don’t want to issue plates to someone who’s not following state laws. The problem is, sometimes you don’t have the coverage you need at the exact moment you need plates-and you DEFINITELY don’t have the documentation you need to prove it. So what can you do?

When You Buy a New Car

Ideally, the minute you add a new car to your collection you’ll take the time to pick up your cell phone and let your auto insurance company know. Oh, sure, some auto insurance companies will automatically extend coverage to new vehicles under the same terms as the old ones for a certain number of days. Then again, some don’t. Others have special terms that have to be met before your new car will be covered automatically. (No, that doesn’t entirely make sense, but then again, how much of the information you pick up about insurance does?)

Since the last thing you want to do is fall into those statistical few that have an accident with their car the minute they pull off the dealer’s lot and then find out they aren’t covered, as soon as you have access to your new car’s VIN you’re going to want to notify your insurance company. They’ll issue you a policy. You then have two choices. You can either wait until your auto insurance cards show up in the mail to go to the DMV and argue your case (which is what it may end up feeling like by the time you actually get to take your new plates home) or you can ask your insurer to fax your information over. You usually have (X) number of days to drive around on temporary tags, so which path you choose is entirely up to you.

Hopping State Lines

If you’re registering an old car in a new state you’re up against a whole new set of challenges. Why? Because it’s much, much harder to re-register an old car than to register a new one. Don’t ask me why, it just is.

Now, most people have enough to do when they move that contacting their auto insurance company falls to the bottom of the list. A word to the wise: Don’t let that happen. If your auto insurance company finds out your car is garaged somewhere else on a permanent basis you could find yourself holding the bag for the bills after an accident that should have been covered by insurance, and waiting means it’s going to take even longer to get your new insurance cards. It’s a matter of a phone call to whichever of the nationwide auto insurance companies you’re using to get your insurance switched over, and just like with a new car you have the choice to either have your information faxed over or wait until your new cards show up.

Either way, you want to do it within the first week of your move or you’re going to be facing a whole new set of problems-and moving is complicated enough as it is!

Common Questions about getting Louisville CO auto insurance in Louisville CO

What if someone else driving my car gets into an accident with someone else?

Generally, insurance goes with the vehicle. For example, if you have an accident while using someone else’s vehicle, the owner’s insurance would first be applied toward damages to the vehicle. Such as, say a person I know is driving my car and is injured in an accident, my Louisville CO auto insurance will cover the damages caused to my vehicle, but the coverage of the person driving my car will be applied to any injuries they suffered.

What do I do if I am in a car accident?

First and most importantly, make sure that you and that everyone else is okay and get help for anyone who has been hurt. The next crucial step is to make sure to notify the police so that they can file a report. The police report is the most accurate and court relevant information available. The most important things to get from the other driver in the accident are the names of everyone involved, personal or business addresses, all relevant phone numbers, the driver’s license number, the name and number of the other driver’s insurance company, license plate number, make and model and color of the vehicle, the names and numbers of witnesses,It is always better to have too much information than too little. Also, if you or passengers are suffering from injuries, and save all records of medical expenses, such as bills or receipts.

When my car breaks down, what should I do?

* Never get out of a broken down car in the middle of the road to make a repair or examine damage.

* If the vehicle is not drivable, do not leave the vehicle and be patient while help arrives. Take advantage of your mobile phone to call for assistance.

* Remember to put on your hazard lights. Once you are in a safe place, mark your location with flares or triangles.

* If something caused your tire to deflate, be absolutely sure to get the car to a place safely out of traffic before trying to fix or replace it – even if it means destroying the wheel getting there.

For cold climates: Keep a blanket to fend off the cold in the storage of your car if you are stuck in frigid conditions waiting for help. Also carry a shovel and sand in the event your car is stuck in the snow.

Will I lose my Louisville CO auto insurance policy if a car accident happens?

In a worst case scenario, your policy may not be renewed at the end of the next term.

Am I insured if I am driving someone else’s vehicle?

In general, the coverage of insurance goes with the vehicle. For example, if you have an accident in control of another person’s vehicle, the insurance of the owner goes to cover any damages to the car you are driving. Your Louisville CO auto insurance would generally apply in the event the owner of the vehicle had no Louisville CO auto insurance or did not have enough Louisville CO auto insurance to pay the damages.

How does insurance coverage work with a car rental?

Vehicle rental coverage will be different depending on the state. For some locations, your current Louisville CO auto insurance policy could be enough all that you need for a rental, depending on your provider and your policy. So, you may want to contact your agent prior to renting a vehicle to see how much you insurance will cover in regards to rental cars. Also, if you need an evaluation of how you are currently covered, contact me for a free review.

Will my premiums double if I get into an accident or get a speeding ticket?

Get a hold of me with any questions about your Louisville CO auto insurance policy. I am more than happy to help and provide a complimentary evaluation of your current coverage.

Information On Buying Auto Insurance

December 13th, 2009

At the time of getting auto insurance, many people do not know the reasons for getting it. In order to clear up these doubts, it is important to remember that having an automobile is necessary since it is an obligation established by most traffic laws, and it is also convenient to protect the patrimony of the policyholder and/or the driver.

The principal aims of the acquisition of car insurance are to keep the policyholder or the driver protected from what he should owe to a third party as a consequence of the damages caused by the insured vehicle, or by the load that it transports in proper conditions. This will also include the facts which appear in the agreed term that may lead to civil responsibility at the expense of the driver. This type of insurance is indispensable for the indemnification of the vehicle because of fire, accidents, or theft.

Although there is a wide range of offers on the market, one of the issues that should be taken into consideration at the moment of choosing automobile insurance is the coverage. Commonly, the civil responsibility does not cover the damages to third parties, goods nor the claims for damages to third parties transported with profit motive. Regarding the different options of the possible risks that may be covered, some of them are the material damages (it covers the property damages that the vehicle suffers, which is assured as a result of accidents like scratches, crashes or collisions, and sometimes the ones that could be generated due to lock-outs or strikes.

In case of fire, the insurance covers the material damages as a result of explosions and direct or indirect contact with fire. Another advantage of the car insurance is the ability to be protected against theft or robbery of the car, as well as its original parts. The majority of the options available insure the car against robbery or the theft of its original parts, but does not cover the theft of the windshield wipers, fuel tank, mirrors, and other accessories that are included in the original equipment provided by the factory. Besides, it is also not allowed to insure stereos or any music equipment.

All the risks mentioned could be covered totally or partially. It is important to read carefully the clause that defines the total damages, since there are two modalities. The first one considers the partial damage if the value of the damaged unit overcomes 20 % of the value of sale in cash at the market where the car had been assured. If not, it would be considered total damage. For other entities, the total damage would be only when the damage reaches 80% of the cost of the vehicle at the moment of the accident.

Teenage Auto Insurance – How Are You Going to Save Some Cash?

December 12th, 2009

Ten to one if you are reading this article you either have a teen that just acquired their license, or you have a teenager that is killing your insurance. We all have read articles about ways to save on your insurance through joint plans, higher deductibles, good grades, multi car, etc. What about the long term effects? Do you want your teenager to keep being on your policy, or would you like for them to have their own when it comes time. When it comes time to get their own policy, are they going to be prepared?

The first step to making the best of the situation is to talk to your teenager that is looking to get automobile insurance for the first time. Let them know being a new driver is important and comes with many risks. It is a great responsibility to have and when used inappropriately, it can take lives. Also inform them of the financial responsibility of an insurance policy. Most teenagers will realize that it costs quite a bit of money to get an insurance policy, which is why they come to you. In most cases, though, they do not realize exactly how much it costs, how to get one, and never see one of those payments in the time they are covered under their parents. So what does this mean to you?

Get Your Teens Actively Involved in Their Insurance Coverage

After talking with them, it is time to get that policy. At all opportunity, take your teenager with you while you add them on the insurance policy, or get a whole new one for the family. Let them see first hand what auto insurance consists of so they are familiar with the concept. After you have signed on an insurance policy, go home and review it with them. Make sure they understand what each part covers. Then review the cost. Figure out how much adding them on your insurance policy costs. This is the amount they are responsible for. If they cannot pay this amount monthly due to school, etc. work out a payment plan that still calls for them to make a payment every month. If a job is unattainable due to circumstances, then they should do work around the house, etc. to compensate for the amount due.

Another aspect at saving on auto insurance for teens is their grades. In order to maintain insurance, they need to understand it is important they maintain their grades along with making their monthly payment. With privilege comes responsibility. Unfortunately, it is common nowadays, to forget this simple yet important saying. By making sure these steps are taken, you will be helping your teenager learn responsibility, money management, and the importance of grades. It gives incentive to work harder and makes them appreciate this opportunity rather than take advantage of it. Not only does it provide those things, it saves you money on your new teenagers insurance and gives you some comfort that you are doing everything in your power to create a safe and responsible driver.
